Saturday morning in the studio, we will use small viewfinders and cameras to discover palettes of colors we like, then make sketches of tiny invented possibility paintings. Saturday afternoon we will make an excursion to the rich Art & Architecture book collection at Norlin Library on the CU campus. In books myriad art forms are the inspiration for discovering new palettes. Then, Sunday, back in the studio, we’ll use our color discoveries to make paintings of our own invention.
Author Reading of Quarry, Mountain Water Press' first published novel and Kirkus Review "Best 100 Indies of 2017"
Join author Meredith Ann Fuller and illustrator Joan Anderson at a reading of Quarry. The Kirkus Review named Quarry one of the 100 Best Indie books of 2017, calling it, "A rich, multilayered, and slowly unfolding literary work."
I am beginning the year painting and invite you to come along. The theme and title of my 6-week class, XX. PAINT BEST, is inspired by a short list of New Year’s “rulins” borrowed from Woody Guthrie’s 1943 list: 18. Stay Glad 20. Dream Good 26. Dance Better. To this I add XX. Paint Best.
Please join us for the opening reception of Robert Spellman's upcoming show, which will be on view January 16—March 2, 2018.
"For the optimists among us, the paintings give us another chance for sweet regard, before old things disappear altogether in the constant renovation of the future." – Joan Anderson
